A description of the layout of the house
First floor
- You begin at the porch, which is south.
- North is the vestibule.
- North of the vestibule is the assembly room.
- North of the assembly room is the refectory.
- At the southern end of the refectory, east and west are stairs.
- North of the refectory is a serving area;
- stairs are east and west of the serving area.
- The stairs west lead down to a pool.
- North of the serving area is the morning room, which is in two sections.
- East are the pantries.
- North of the pantries are more pantries, the servants' dining area, the
kitchens, and a walk-in freezer.
- North of the morning room is the conservatory.
- North of the conservatory are the gardens.
- West of the gardens is the mud room, with stairs going up.
- In the northern part of the morning room, you can go east into a closet,
which has an inner closet to the south.
- West of the morning room is the billiard room.
- South of the billiard room is a staircase.
- West of the billiard room is the theater.
- In the theater entrance, you can go south to a staircase or north into the theater aisle.
- West of the theater aisle is the theater; south of this is a storage area.
- East of the storage area is the projection room.

Mezzanine
- Between the first and second stories, just over the
morning room
(first floor) is the
mezzanine, which is a private suite.
- The stairs east and west of the
serving area (first floor) lead to this suite.
- If you climb the western stairs,
north of the stairs is the western
section of the lobby; north of that is the
bedroom.
- East of the bedroom is the sitting room.
- North of the sitting room is a balcony; south of the sitting room is the
middle of the lobby.
- South of the middle lobby is a balcony.
- From the
sitting room, you can go east into the bathroom;
south of the bathroom is the
eastern section of the lobby; and south of that are the eastern set of stairs
(which lead down to the serving area on the first floor).
Second floor
- At the southern end is the library, which has an eastern
alcove and a western alcove.
- (These are above the vestibule and
assembly room on the first floor.)
- North of the library is the lobby, which has
stairs to the east and to the west.
- Two corridors go north from the lobby,
on either side of three bedrooms.
- (These are above the refectory on the first
floor.)
- You can enter the bedrooms from either corridor.
- Thus, if you
choose the eastern corridor, you go west into each of the bedrooms.
- The first
bedroom has a closet in the north wall.
- The middle bedroom has a closet in
the south wall.
- The last bedroom has a closet in the north wall.
- At the north end of each corridor are stairs.
- In the western corridor, the stairs are west.
- In the eastern corridor, the stairs are east.
- East corridor:
- west is a bedroom;
- east is a hallway;
- north of that hallway is another bedroom,
with a
closet in the west wall;
- east of the hallway is the bottom floor of a suite
that has stairs south (they lead down to a bathroom and a sitting room, and
up to a study) and a bedroom north (it has a closet).
- West corridor:
- east is a bedroom;
- west is a hallway;
- north of that hallway is another
bedroom, with a
closet in the east wall;
- west of the hallway is the bottom floor of a suite
with stairs south (they lead down to a bathroom and a sitting room, and up to
a study) and a bedroom north.
Third floor
- At the southern end is a sitting room with a room east and a
room west.
- The east room has a bathroom north and a bedroom east.
- The west room has a bathroom north and a bedroom west.
- North of the sitting room is a
lobby, which has stairs east and west.
- North of the lobby is a long study.
- At the northern end of the study are stairs east and west;
a sunroom is north.
Fourth floor
- At the southern end is a sitting room in three sections.
- The western section leads south to a study being used as a laboratory and
north to stairs.
- The middle section leads north to another sitting room.
- The eastern section leads south to a bedroom and north to stairs.
- (The
stairs on either side lead down clear to the southern end of the refectory.)
About the laboratory
Suite in the western wing
- Above the theater (first floor) are bedrooms
and a master suite.
- This section can be entered from the first floor, via
the stairs south of the theater entrance.
Suite: second floor
- North of the stairs is a corridor in several sections.
- In the southern section, west is a bathroom (north of the bathroom is a bedroom) and east is a bedroom, with a closet in the east wall.
- In the middle section, west is a bedroom (south of the bedroom is the bathroom).
- In the northern section of the corridor, west is another corridor; west of that is a sitting room.
- South of the sitting room is the bedroom; north of the sitting room is a bathroom.
- East of the bathroom is room with a tub.
- South of the tub room is the corridor.
- East of the tub room are stairs; they lead down to the gardens (first floor) and up to the rest of the suite.
Suite: third floor
- This floor also can be entered via the stairs south of the theater entrance.
- North is a corridor in several sections.
- In the southern section, west is a bathroom
(north of the bathroom is a reading room)
- and east is a
bedroom, with a closet in the east wall.
- In the middle section of the corridor, west is the
reading room (south of the reading room is the bathroom).
- In the northern
section of the corridor, west is a lounge.
- North of the lounge is an
exercise room;
- east of the exercise room is a room with a whirlpool tub.
- East of the whirlpool are stairs leading down and up to the rest of the suite.
- South of the whirlpool is the northern section of the corridor.
Suite: fourth floor
- This floor can be entered via the stairs south of the theater entrance.
- North of the stairs is a small area; west of that area is another room.
- North of the area is a room which leads west into a dressing room and north
into a large dressing room.
- North of the western dressing room is a bedroom;
north of that is a study.
- East of the study is a sitting room;
- north of the
study is a bathroom.
- East of the bathroom is an area which leads north into
a sauna, east to stairs going down (to the gardens) and
south to the sitting room.
- South of the sitting room is another small room;
- south of that room is the large dressing room.
